Yoga for sleep
How have you been sleeping? Do you have trouble falling or staying asleep? Do you feel rested upon waking?
For many of us, normal sleep patterns have been disrupted during the coronavirus pandemic. For others, certain health conditions impact our sleep. Poor quality or not enough sleep impacts on our overall physical and mental health. Improving nighttime sleep can have numerous benefits -- improved mood, physical and cognitive function, immune system, and decreased daytime fatigue and irritability.
As a person living with persistent post-concussion syndrome and chronic migraine, Dr. Nicosia knows firsthand how yoga can address disruptions to sleep cycles. In addition to her yoga therapy and restorative yoga training, she has studied with Dr. Roger Cole, a Stanford-trained sleep scientist, senior Iyengar Yoga Teacher and yoga therapist.
Her weekly Yoga for a Good Night's Sleep class with Adeline Yoga Studio incorporates principles based in neuroscience, Ayurveda and yoga philosophy, Iyengar yoga techniques, and Yoga Nidra for a deeply restorative practice specifically designed for sleep support. You will experience asana and pranayama practices to help activate your relaxation response, soothe the nervous system, and support optimal sleep.
